A Year in Review | 2013 Wichita Wedding Videography
2013 has been a great 1st year for Nick Miller Films! Owning a business is a learning experience (and stressful at times!), but well worth it. I am so glad to have started this venture. I have gotten to meet some great people - both wedding couples and other business owners - and thoroughly enjoy being a part of this industry!
Some of the big highlights from the year:
WPPI: WPPI was a HUGE - and by HUGE I mean 16,000+ person - convention held in Las Vegas this past March. Not only was I able to learn a lot of business techniques, I got to 1) connect and become friends with some local photographers - Darrin Hackney, Sara Mac, Amy Shepherd - 2) get to know some awesome photogs out in the San Diego - Shane & Lauren Hopkins of Mozi photography (Jennifer and I are actually flying out to San Diego this summer to shoot Lauren's brother's wedding!) - & 3) meet and talk to Rob Adams a little bit - if you don't know Rob is only one of the top wedding cinematographersin the US if not world.
THE NOT WEDDING: If you have followed any of my blogs/facebook posts/tweets this year you have heard about The Not Wedding. This is a bridal show in the form of a fake wedding. Ashley Moore of Events by Ashely is the regional director for the Not Wedding for this part of the country and pulled off one of the most interesting, beautiful, fun nights of the year for me! I got to work with some of the best in the business, and I look forward to doing it again.
MY WIFE: My wife, Jennifer Miller, of Jennifer Miller Photographyhas been a HUGE supporter of all that I have done this year. If it were not for her - there is NO WAY that I could have done all that I have done in 2013. She has done a lot for me - being a 2nd shooter, taking my head shots, helping with color correcting, being an encouragement - I thank you so much Jennifer for all that you've done!
MY CLIENTS: I have had some of the best clients this past year! I definitely could not have had the year that I did without every single one of you. Thank you! My personal goal of weddings to film from when I started in September of 2012 to the end of 2013 was to film 10 weddings. I am humbled and very thankful to say that my year end total of weddings filmed is 15. Again, thank you all so much! Which one has been your favorite highlight film?
Please be aware that I still have a couple more films to edit for the 2013 year, and as soon as I finish those highlights they will be uploaded to this list!
Thanks for the great 2013!! Here's to an even better 2014!!
